Policy reviews

Not sure what your life insurance actually does? Let’s take a look.

Many people think they’re covered without knowing the details. A policy review helps you understand what you have, who it protects, and whether it still fits your life.

Who a review is for

  • People who only have coverage through work
  • Anyone who bought a policy years ago and hasn’t looked at it since
  • Families after a big change, like a new baby, a new home, a job change or a divorce
  • People with a term policy that is nearing its end date

What we look at

  • Who is insured, who owns the policy, who pays for it, and who the beneficiaries are
  • The type of policy and, for term, the end date
  • Premiums, and what is guaranteed versus projected
  • Cash value, loans and riders, if the policy has them
  • Whether the coverage amount still matches your needs

What you get

  • A plain-language summary of what you have
  • A list of questions to bring to your insurer
  • Options to consider if there are gaps, explained without pressure

A review is not a recommendation to replace a policy. Replacing coverage can mean new costs, new waiting periods and lost benefits, so we look at everything before suggesting any change.

What to bring

  • Your policy documents or most recent statement
  • Your beneficiary designations
  • A summary of your benefits from work

Questions to ask about any policy

  • Who owns this policy, and who is the beneficiary, including a backup?
  • Is the premium guaranteed, and for how long?
  • When does the coverage end, and can I convert or renew it?
  • What loans or withdrawals have been taken, and what do they do to the death benefit?
